Share a bookmark collection, then let someone make it their own
Send a collection of useful links. The other person can browse it or keep an independent copy. Both people need Stash Pro.
Updated
Maybe you have gathered recipes for a friend, references for a design project, or articles for a study group. Sending each URL separately loses the organization you already put into the collection. In Stash Pro, you can send one collection link, including its sub-collections, and let the other person decide what to keep.
Both the sender and the recipient need Stash Pro. A Free account or a visitor who is not logged in cannot view the shared bookmarks or import them. You can check your plan in Settings; see the Free and Pro plan overview before getting started.
How to share a bookmark collection on the web
- Open the collection you want to share in your Stash library.
- Choose Share collection, then Create share link.
- Copy the link and send it to the other person.
- They open it and log in with their Pro account to browse the collection.
The shared view is read only. Recipients can open the saved websites and browse the included links, but they cannot rename your collection, change your bookmarks or add links to your original. Your other collections stay private.
Share All links as a group of collections
To share your complete library, open All links → Share All links → Create share link. This includes every collection and sub-collection, empty folders and links without a collection. Later additions also appear at the link. Search and tag filters do not reduce the shared library, so review your links before enabling it.
The recipient can import the library as one main collection containing its original collection structure. Links that had no collection go directly into that main collection. As with a single collection, both people need Pro and personal notes and images stay private.
After closing the dialog, Link active shows that a usable link exists. Choose Manage sharing to reopen it or turn sharing off. Sharing off means there is no link; Link paused · Pro required means an existing link is unavailable until the owner restores Pro.
Import an editable copy into your own library
If someone sends you a collection you want to keep, choose Import to my library in the shared view. You can give your copy a different name. Stash copies the collection and its sub-collections, including empty ones, into your account.
You can then edit your copy, move links, add notes or remove bookmarks. Those changes affect your library only. Later edits to the sender’s original appear at the shared link, but do not update an imported copy. If you already have a URL saved, Stash skips it rather than moving or overwriting your existing bookmark.
Opening a shared collection never imports it automatically. If you import the same shared collection again, Stash opens the copy you already made. For moving a whole browser library instead, follow the browser bookmark import guide.
What is included, and what stays private?
Sharing includes collection names, saved URLs, titles, descriptions and tags. Personal notes and images, including automatic previews and uploaded images, are excluded from both the shared view and imported copies. A parent collection outside the one you selected, its siblings and the rest of your library are not included.
The link is unlisted and shared content is not indexed by search engines. Anyone who has the link and an active Pro account can use it, so send it only to people you want to give access. It is not an invitation tied to a particular email address. Check the saved URLs and descriptions before sharing; they are visible to recipients.
Turn sharing off when you need to
Open the collection’s Share controls to turn sharing off. The old link stops working. Turning sharing on again creates a new link, so you choose who receives access next.
Turning sharing off or deleting the original does not remove copies other people already imported. If the sender’s Pro plan ends, shared links pause until Pro is restored, unless the owner has revoked them. Owners can turn sharing off even on Free. A recipient whose Pro plan ends keeps their imported copies and can still edit them.
Sharing collections on mobile
The same Pro requirements apply in the mobile app. In Library, use Share collection on a collection or Share All links on the All links card. Sharing controls and their status also appear above your saved links. Create a link, then choose Share link to send it through your phone’s share menu. To receive one, paste it into Open shared collection in Library. You can also use Share to Stash from another app, or the shared web page’s Open in the Stash mobile app link.
The Android app is being prepared for Google Play. Check Android availability for the current status. You can share and import collections through the web app in your phone’s browser.
A useful way to share a reading list or project resources
Keep the collection focused: a shortlist of articles for a study session or references for one project is easier to use than a large mixed library. Name sub-collections clearly and add tags that make sense to someone seeing the links for the first time. The recipient can keep the shared view as a reference, or import it and organize their own version.
If the source collection needs a little cleanup first, start with organizing bookmarks with collections and tags. For articles you plan to work through, see the reading-list guide.
Share useful links with Stash Pro
Both people need Pro to share, view or import collections. Create an account, then manage your plan in Settings.
